On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, an african-American man, was arrested in Minneapolis, Minnesota for allegedly using counterfeit money to buy cigarettes. During the arrest Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, knelt on his neck for nearly eight minutes leading to the death of George Floyd. This triggered global protests on racism against people of colour and also the concept of defund the police. We discuss some statistics and what has worked in other countries.
